'Asking the Experts'
A Guide to Involving People in Shaping
Health and Social Care Services
We have looked at the literature on 'user involvement' and experience gained elsewhere to
provide an overview of what constitutes good practice in involving service users and
carers. 'Asking the Experts' contains practical guidelines as well as signposts to some
useful resources.
The Guide is made up of three main parts:
| Part 1: |
Contains an introduction to the report. It looks at the context for
'involving' people, and the thinking you need to do to develop practice that routinely
involves service users, as well as others who may come to use services in the future. |
| Part 2: |
Considers the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to
involving people. This includes examples from best practice, as well as research evidence
of 'what works' where this is available. |
| Part 3: |
Focuses on approaches to involving people who use or may use, community
care services in decisions about the shape of those services. |
Please use the links above or on the side of this page to access these sections. Each
Part contains a contents list which will then link you to the relevant chapters including
a list of references. A full list of references can be found on the References page. If you wish to print or download a full
copy of 'Asking the Experts' please go to the PDF Copy
of the Guide.
