Involving people in shaping community care services

'User involvement' might be defined as inclusion of people who use or may potentially use services in the planning and management of those services, as well as in personal decisions about their care or treatment.

CCNAP were asked to develop some tools to assist local agencies in their attempts to involve users and potential users of community care services in shaping local resources. From wide-ranging discussions with local commissioners and practitioners, three strands emerged:

Workshops

  • Workshops that turn theory into practice for health and social care practitioners are promoting the involvement of people who use community care services. Please follow the link on the left for more information.

Newsletter

The objectives of 'The Bridge' newsletter are to:

  • Stimulate interest in 'user involvement'
  • Link interested practitioners
  • Raise awareness of work and initiatives happening across the Humber region
  • Promote sharing of skills and ideas
  • Introduce new approaches and innovative practice from other areas

It is distributed to practitioners working in the statutory, independent and voluntary sector services. Please use the link on the left to view previous copies.

Asking the Experts
  • 'Asking the Experts' - A Guide to Involving People in Shaping Health and Social Care Services
