What is CCNAP?

The Community Care Needs Assessment Project, (CCNAP), is a time-limited research and development project. It was established with joint monies in October 1998 by the two health authorities and four local authorities which serve the Humber sub-region. The project has been in operation for 3 years and is due to end March 2002.

The main purpose of CCNAP is to provide local agencies with information about needs to support the planning and commissioning of community care and supported housing services. This builds on work developed by the Children in Need Assessment Project, (CINAP), a child and family focused project which came to a close in 1998.

As part of its three-year work programme, the CCNAP team are developing some practical approaches to collecting, analysing and presenting information about local needs and services. The intention is to develop tools which local agencies can employ or adapt as required in order to monitor and evaluate local needs and services.

This includes:

  • Exploring ways in which the spatial analysis of data, (employing GIS), can be used to assist in the planning and commissioning of services.
  • Developing a local resource manual on approaches to involving vulnerable adults in shaping community care services.
  • Adapting the 'Pathways' approach to identifying and projecting local supported housing needs.
  • Hosting joint training events on involving vulnerable adults in shaping services, where knowledge and experience can be shared.
  • Developing this web-site as a means of sharing information and raising awareness about vulnerable residents in the area.

Who is this web-site for?

The web-site was developed to give local commissioners and planners of community care services on-line access to information generated by CCNAP. However, some of the information may also be of interest to service providers, as well as members of the public.

The web-site will be updated and maintained by the Project team until March 2002, when we hope it will be adopted by one or more local health and social care partnerships.
